The Primary Election is Tuesday, August 9, 2011.  Please vote for Tim Brausen at your local polling place.  If you are unsure where to vote, please call us at 952-451-8492, and we will direct you to your polling location.

This campaign has given me the opportunity to talk to many of you about the issues I care about, and the things that matter to you too!  I’ve been able to advocate for transit-oriented development, affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and racial equity, issues I consider important and will continue to work on!

As the Primary ends, I want to thank all of the citizens of St. Louis Park for the opportunity to run for this office, as it allowed me to meet so many of you and learn more about this community I love.  Win or lose tomorrow, I am better for the experience, and appreciate the residents’ kindness, courtesy and civility throughout this campaign.

My wife Cindy and I rode our bikes around the city to over 20 of the St. Louis Park National Night Out Parties the evening of August 2.  We visited with people at Louisiana Courts, and in the Texatonka, Bronx Park, Birchwood, Sorenson, Lenox, Oak Hill, Aquila and Cedar Manor Neighborhoods.

Thank you all for your hospitality as we dropped by (without invitations) to introduce ourselves and hear about neighborhood concerns.  It was fun, and we regret we couldn’t sample all the delicious looking foods!

Also, our apologies to those bloc that we did not visit, but we found that we could only make it to just so many of the 125+ block parties scheduled! It just wasn’t possible to get to a new party every two minutes during the 4+ hours we were out, as much as we would have liked to do so.

Good, caring and friendly neighbors make St. Louis Park the great community it is!  Your efforts make this a great community evening.  It was our pleasure to be part of these events.  –  Tim

St. Louis Park Patch profiled each of the five people competing for two seats on the City Council this year. Absentee voting in the 2011 city election begins Friday. A primary for one seat is Aug. 9, capsule check with the general election for both seats Nov. 8.  Remember to get out and vote!
